Brian and I have been talking a lot lately about working together to lose weight. I've been doing a lot of research on Boot Camps, Personal Trainers, Nutritionists, etc. But the reality is that we can't really afford it right now.
Brian's always been the type to workout alone - lift weights, go for a bike ride, run, etc. But for me, I've realized that I need a partner in order to motivate me. Someone that can help keep me accountable for my actions. I'm not really sure how to explain it. When it's just me that sees that scale or just me that sets up a schedule, I always find excuses to NOT do what I planned to do.....which results in very scary results on the scale. I feel like a failure because I can't do this by myself.
Luckily, I have a super supportive husband. Because we decided that we would set up a workout schedule for us to help keep ME accountable. I'm really good with schedules, so once I get in the swing of things I can easily stick to it. It's just the getting into the routine that is the difficult part. We analyzed our weekly schedule and noticed certain trends that we follow. Like Mondays are hard for us.....the first day back to work is always draining. Tues, Wed, Thurs are my most motivative days for working out. Fridays are hit or miss, but even if it's a quick walk around the block before having that beer after a long week will be enough. Sat and Sun....it's summer, so we want to get back to our former rule of playing outside...be it a hike in Briones, a bike ride on the Iron Horse Trail or working in the garden.
Our Schedule:
Monday: Day Off
Tuesday: Gym - Weight training Arms (for me, probably a bike ride for Brian)
Wednesday: Run/Walk
Thursday: Gym - Weight Training Legs (for me, probably a bike ride for Brian)
Friday: Run/Walk
Saturday: Play outside
Sunday: Play outside
July is full of a ton of outdoor activities.....every weekend is booked. So this should be a good way to start getting into that routine.
This is kind of a selfish blog post. I'm blogging this in hopes that I can look back and remind myself that I NEED TO DO THIS. No excuses.
